The Elephant in the Room
A textured orb dominates the upper half of the canvas, its surface worked in layers of ochre and grey, ringed in deep blue. Below, the composition breaks into horizontal bands: a smudged olive midground interrupted by a small photographic insert of a beetle, a thin line of gold leaf, and a field of absolute black.
The title appears in mirror-reversed text in the upper corner-present, but refusing to be read straight on. The enormous thing goes unacknowledged. The small creature notices anyway.
