This piece began with an old popcorn wrapper-an everyday object carrying its own history. I was drawn to its graphic quality and the sense of nostalgia embedded in it. From there, the painting built outward: a woman’s mouth at the top, partially obscured, and the wordscomfort foodtransferred in reverse along the edge.
Like others in theIndexseries, the elements feel both familiar and slightly out of reach. The imagery suggests something immediate-taste, memory, desire-but never fully settles into a single meaning. Layers are added and disrupted, with gesture and mark-making creating a tension between clarity and abstraction.
